The Driving Test

Test for the Car Driving Licence

The driving test is administered by the Driving Standards Agency. It is designed to see if you can drive safely and know and obey the Highway Code.

The test comprises two parts: The Driving Theory Test, and the Practical Test.

You must pass the Driving Theory Test before you can take the Practical Test. The Theory test pass certificate is valid for two years. If you do not pass the practical driving test within two years of passing the theory test you will need to take the theory test again.

Probationary Period

There is a two year probationary period after you pass your test. During this period your driving licence will be revoked if you are convicted of driving offences for which a total of six or more penalty points are awarded.

At JEM Driving School we teach safe defensive driving to help you drive safely right from the start. You can also improve your safety in the first year after passing your test by taking the Pass Plus course.
