Practical Test

The Practical Driving Test

In order to take the practical driving test you must first pass the theory test.

The practical test takes about 40 minutes. The examiner will be looking to see that you have learned to drive safely and confidently.

Manoeuvres

You will be asked to perform two manoeuvres which the examiner will choose from a list of four.

Ineffective observation or a lack of accuracy whilst reversing around a corner and reverse parking are two of the top five reasons for failing the test according a report issued by the Driving Standards Agency. At JEM Driving School we use proven teaching techniques to improve accuracy. Our tuition vehicle offers excellent all round visibility.

Show me / Tell me

You will also be asked two questions on vehicle safety. For example "Show me where the brake fluid reservoir is and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid." This is to check that you know how to check the car's tyres, brakes, fluids, lights, reflectors, direction indicators, etc. We will prepare you for these questions as part of your tuition.
