Theory Test
Theory Questions and Hazard Perception
The Driving Theory Test is in two parts: Multiple choice questions and the Hazard Perception test. You must pass the theory test before taking the practical test.
We can help you to prepare for the theory test
There are local theory test centres in Manchester, Oldham, Salford, and Stockport.
Theory Questions
The first part of the test involves answering 35 multiple choice questions in 40 minutes. This test is taken on a computer with a "touch screen" so you simply have to touch the screen next to the answer or answers you think are correct.
Hazard Perception Test
For the Hazard Perception Test you will be shown a series of video clips shown from a driver's viewpoint. In each of the clips there will be one or more driving hazards and you are asked to click the mouse button as soon as you see a hazard developing. The Hazard Perception Test lasts about 20 minutes.
Preparing for the Theory Test
At JEM Driving School we can help you to prepare for both parts of the theory test and give you advice on study aids and techniques.
The Theory test pass certificate is valid for two years. If you do not pass the practical driving test within two years of passing the theory test you will need to take the theory test again.
